How to play:

Animals & Legends Card Game

The game consists of three different types of cards: animal cards, legend cards, and other cards that help in gameplay. The cards are dealt face down to each player, who then picks up the top 10 cards of their deck. The youngest player starts first and can perform one of four actions.

Attacks are conducted using energy cards and animal cards you place on the table. They are used to destroy animal cards in your opponent's control if they have a lower strength. If you use a set of animals to win a battle, the opponent must further give up their animal cards equal to the number in the winning set used minus one. This allows you to quickly reduce your opponent's animal numbers, which leads to a quicker game.

Depending on the number of animals in a set used for battle, they may be discarded at the end or taken by the winner. The winner's set gets sent to a resting animals area where you can recover during gameplay. When resting, your opponent may be able to steal or destroy the animals using a Legend card.

Legend cards allow you to perform tricks or abilities either inside or outside a battle. They may include stealing or destroying cards from your opponent, manipulating your deck, or interfering with the actions of your opponent. The Rainbow card can become as strong as the strongest animal set depending on a die roll, and the Trumpet card can be used to beat four or fewer animals in a set.

There are challenges in the game as well. If you pull a Wildfire card from your pile and you have more than 15 cards in hand, then you must roll a die and discard the number of cards indicated. But if you have a Rainstorm card in your hand, then it cancels the Wildfire card.

Animals & Legends is a simple, exciting game for 2 to 4 people that offers a little strategy and luck for the entire family.

Animals and Legends FAQ

There is no adding up numbers in the game. A pair of animals will always beat a single of any card. Think of it like poker. Singles are beaten by Doubles. Doubles are beaten by 3 of a kind etc.

If you pick up a wildfire card from your facedown deck, it immediately takes affect and is placed in the discard pile. If you have 15 or more cards in your hand, roll the die and eliminate the number shown on the die. If you roll a ‘1’, this automatically reduces your hand to 15 cards. If you do not have 15 or more cards in your hand when you picked up the wildfire card, it simply goes into the discard pile with no affect to you. The only time it does not take effect is if you have a Rainstorm card, which you play and discard.

If you are attacked and you don’t have any animal cards to defend with in your hand you lose. Even if you have resting animals.

In a multiple attack, you have to place your first card or set of cards down for each energy card attack placed down. Then a winner has to be determined from each energy card attack before moving onto the next one and you don’t get to collect until all attacks are complete. If you run out of Animal cards to use you lose the game. Make sure you have the cards (and confidence) before you place a multiple attack!
